Precipitation of g' in a ternary Ni-Al-Cr-Alloy

The animation shows the distribution of the g'phase during coarsening in a ternary Ni-Al-Cr alloy. For the first timea ternary alloy has been simulated. The phase field model has been coupledto the thermodynamic software Thermo-Calc, which yield molar Gibbs energiesand chemical potentials to evaluate the driving force at the phase boundary.According to theories of Ostwald-Ripening it can be seen that smaller particlesdissolve while the bigger particles grow.
